Promoting the Welsh Farming Sector

The uncertainty presented by Brexit – further complicated by the Welsh Government’s approach to the future of the BPS scheme – present the agriculture sector with a number of challenges.  Having spent 11 years working on behalf of Welsh farmers, I will use my role as your Member of Parliament to champion the Welsh farming sector – particularly the beef and sheep farmers in Brecon and Radnorshire.  We need our farmers to continue to produce fantastic British food, and steward a thriving countryside which underpins the Welsh tourism sector.  My approach will be to champion their work and urge policy makers to let farmers do what they do best – farm.

I also want to build on the excellent work done by former Member of Parliament Chris Davies.  Chris’s efforts to highlight the concerns of rural Brecon and Radnorshire were second to none.  I particularly want to continue to focus on mental health in farming; ensuring that farming families are able to access every possible support as the farming sector transitions out of the European Union.
