Having met with a number of my farmers last week, Fay was pleased to have the chance to raise their concerns directly with the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street this morning.
Fay specifically raised the numbers of farms being bought for tree planting by large corporate companies - often based overseas - to offset their carbon emissions. This type of ‘greenwashing’ risks U.K. food production and makes it harder for young local people to make their way onto the ladder in farming.
Fay is grateful to the Prime Minister for considering what can be done to make sure our farms remain profitable for both our environment and our businesses.
