COVID-19 recovery

Fay Jones MP

Coronavirus has robbed the United Kingdom of so much, with people across Brecon and Radnorshire suffering enormously. Businesses have been impacted financially, families and friends have been kept apart, and lives have been lost.

Brecon and Radnorshire's rural economy has been hit particularly hard by the harsh, but necessary coronavirus restrictions. Our tourism and hospitality sectors have been decimated and we have seen the cancellation of major events such as the Royal Welsh Show.

But, at the same time we have seen the strength of our Union.  With UK Government support, 11,000 jobs have been protected in Brecon and Radnorshire, and thanks to the hard work of many, the UK has seen one of the most successful coronavirus vaccination programmes in the world.

We now need to ensure that mid Wales is able to fully recover from the pandemic and that we see our share of the nearly £6 billion in funding which the UK Government has made available to the devolved administration in Cardiff.
