Fay Jones MP, Member of Parliament for Brecon and Radnorshire has marked Remembrance Day by attending a memorial service in Hay on Wye.
On Remembrance Sunday, Miss Jones also laid wreathes in Ystradgynlais, Hay on Wye, Brecon and Llandrindod Wells, reflecting the widespread military community across Brecon and Radnorshire.
Miss Jones said:
“This Remembrance Day, as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, let us also remember those who live with the scars of war and conflict every day - both physical and mental. No matter the conflict, however many years ago, our debt of gratitude will never be repaid.
“Remembrance Day has always mattered to me, but this year as I think of my partner Tim who is deployed overseas with the Army, I am reminded of those left behind who keep their families going singlehandedly at enormous cost.
“Service comes in many forms and I particularly want to thank our non-UK military from throughout the Commonwealth - often our bravest and toughest soldiers. It is my privilege to represent the strong Gurkha population we have here in Brecon.
“Finally, I thank every member of our serving Armed Forces. In the face of a new enemy, yet again, you have jumped into action to support the country’s Coronavirus response in your characteristically brilliant way. You are the very best of us and I could not be more grateful for what you do.”
