Fay Jones MP has welcomed the proliferation of Openreach community fibre schemes for the New Radnor and Llanwrtyd Wells Exchange areas, with an additional scheme set to commence at Llyswen.
The community projects will utilise the UK Government Gigabit voucher scheme worth around £4,500 along with Openreach’s commercial contribution to deliver full-fibre to around 990 homes. This follows the extensive work that Ms Jones has undertaken to ensure that the rollout of full-fibre is enjoyed by as many of Brecon and Radnorshire’s residents as possible.
Homes that are eligible will be receiving a postcard from Openreach in the next few weeks explaining how residents can sign up for the scheme.
Ms Jones said:
“Access to fast, reliable fibre broadband is something that I have consistently pushed for during my time as MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, so I am delighted to see that Openreach is set to roll out their community fibre schemes further into the New Radnor, Llanwrtyd Wells and Llyswen areas.
Eligible homes are set to receive a postcard from Openreach in the coming weeks, but I would encourage residents in these areas to head to the Openreach website to enter their details and sign up.
We will continue to work with Openreach to ensure that the whole constituency is connected up as quickly as possible.”
