The sixth annual Industry and Parliament Trust (IPT) Poppy Ride in association with the Royal British Legion took place in Westminster earlier this week. IPT raises funds and awareness for the ‘Poppy Appeal in Parliament.’
The Industry and Parliament Trust (IPT) is an independent, non-lobbying, non-partisan charity that provides a trusted platform of engagement between Parliament and UK businesses. All monies raised help the Royal British Legion provide lifelong financial, social, and emotional support for the Armed Forces community.
This year the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal takes place from Thursday 27th October until Remembrance Sunday 13th November. In honour of its cause MPs and Peers were invited to take part in a 10-hour static bike ride, each cycling as far as they could on an exercise bike in 5 minutes, trying to beat their colleagues to the top of the leaderboard.
Commenting Miss Jones said “I was honoured to take part in this year's Poppy Ride and I’m delighted that I covered 2.95km in just 5 minutes. The Army has a significant presence in Brecon and Radnorshire, and I’m honoured to represent current and former armed forces personnel in Parliament. The Poppy Appeal is of great national importance and it was brilliant to help bring awareness to their important cause and mission this afternoon.”
