My inbox is once again reflecting the ire caused in this part of the world by discussions in Cardiff Bay, this time led by Joyce Watson MS. Farmers in Wales already feel ignored and frustrated by the Welsh Government’s approach to Bovine TB and they are rightfully furious with her lack of compassion toward those living with the impact of TB on our farms.
In responding as she did to The Rural Affairs Minister with her suggestion that dairy farmers with perpetual TB Status should “ find another business”, some would say that it is in fact Joyce Watson who would be best to do that given that many of her constituents in Mid and West Wales are farmers.
Just last month the Labour Party promised to end the badger cull in England. Numbers have fallen by 24 percent in England compared to 5 per cent in Wales over the same period, statements such as this confirm that the Labour Party consistently views the countryside through their urban, metropolitan lens without regard to rural areas like Brecon and Radnorshire and the needs of farmers here.
