Brecon and Radnorshire MP Fay Jones has praised the leadership team at Sennybridge School after spending the afternoon with pupils and teachers.
Miss Jones, who was invited to the school by headteacher Mr Ashley Bennett, visited the school last Friday to meet pupils and to discuss the future of the school.
During the visit, Miss Jones was interviewed by Head Girl, Caitlin and Deputy Head Boy Robin and Deputy Head Girl Evie for the School’s radio station Sain Senni. Miss Jones answered questions about her journey into politics as well as the plans for a new school on the Sennybridge site.
Established in May, Sain Senni is Sennybridge's new school radio system. This station is powered by Pupil Voice and celebrates English and Welsh on an equal basis.
Describing her visit, Miss Jones said:
“I wish every day could involve a visit to Sennybridge School. The pupils were so interesting and posed really smart questions. I loved meeting Caitlin, Robin and Eleri who told me all about how much they loved their school. They are going to be leaving shortly to go to High School and I know they are going to have a brilliant time, because of the education they’ve received at Sennybridge. I really do take my hat off to Mr Bennett and all the teachers for the incredible way they are leading the school.
I promised to organise a trip to Westminster for Sennybridge pupils so I hope that we’ll be able to set that up for the new school year. The school places a great focus on pupil democracy and so it would be brilliant to show them around the Commons chamber.”
